Judy Champion-Frates Fine Art Studio

Judy Champion-Frates, Artist

Bio/Resume/CV

Watercolors have brought many challenges but the transparency and luminousity of the medium has brought so much joy that the challenges are more than worth the efforts. Judy has studied briefly with several local watercolor instructors, Maria Eames, Zigi Oberlander, and a techniques class and Painting Partners with Linda Neal of Cottage Art & Frame studio.  For most of her art journey she continues to study with Therese Ferguson and friends locally at Art & Antique Studio in Eau Gallie, FL.   After having been accepted into the Florida Watercolor Show in 2008, Judy and Therese were scheduled guests on a Local Television Network titled 'FOCUS' where both artists were interviewed  as the network focused in on their artworks in February 2009. This was aired and shown several times during that month.
In addition, she has also enjoyed many Watercolor Workshops offered through Brevard Watercolor Society  by reknown artists:
JOHN SALMININ, CHUCK McLAUGHLIN, JUDI BETTS, ANNE ABGOTT,  SUSANNA SPANN, MORGAN SAMUEL PRICE,  JEAN GRASTORF, JANET ROGERS,
ERIC WIEGARDT,  STAN MILLER,  JANE PAUL ANGELHART, etc.

The Artist is  presently Vice President of the (BWS) Brevard Watercolor Society in Melbourne, FL (2009-2010).
Associate Member of (FWS) Florida Watercolor Society, (SWS) Southern Watercolor Society, and  (NWS) National Watercolor Society.
She loves to strive to 'push and pull' her colors intuitively. The vibrant effect of color selection is why the medium of choice is watercolors. She loves to watch water move on the paper and when these puddles are filled with beautiful colors mixing and all the while mingling withoin control...It's this magic creativity evolving that brings out so many emotional feelings onto the paper.  Formerly, Judy had been a single mother of two. She is now married and resides in Viera, FL with both of her children  grown and married with children of their own, for a total of three grandchildren. She enjoys having time with family whom encourage her love for painting.  If asked for the best advise when it comes to art, she would simply encourage one to just 'paint, paint and paint!' and to abolish any fears about wasting paper and paint!...Buy enough  quality paper and artists paints to have lots on hand and know that all of your failures will lead the way to those star paintings. Finally, remember to respect, appreciate and credit each of those instructors that have helped and led you  on your art journey and enjoy sharing time with your artist friends you'll meet along a memorable artist journey.
